The Austrian baritone, Günter Haumer, was born in Vienna. He started playing the piano as a child. At the age of 13 he started his studies of clarinet at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna. Later he studied Lied, Oratorio, Opera and vocal pedagogy in the same institution. Further studies took him to the Royal College of Music in London. Vocal technique with Helena Lazarska, Graziella Sciutti and Wicus Slabbert as well as masterclasses with Roger Vignoles, Graham Johnson, Walter Berry, Michael Chance and Wolfgang Holzmair completed his studies.
Günter Haumer has successfully performed several roles such as Don Giovanni, The Count Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro, Danilo in The Merry Widow, Demetrius in A Midsummernight´s Dream, Ramiro in The Spanish Hour, Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas in Europe and South America. The baritone is very well known for performing contemporary repertoire on the operatic stage. He recently sang the role of Jesus in the church opera Passion & Resurrection by Jonathan Harvey at the Carinthian Summer Festival, as well as Amfortas in the ready-made opera mea culpa by Christoph Schlingensief at the Burgtheater in Vienna.
He has sung with conductors such as Fabio Luisi, Peter Schreier, Sir David Willcocks, Gérard Lesne, Sylvain Cambreling, Christian Järvi and Erwin Ortner at venues like Musikverein Vienna, Cité de la musique Paris, Salzburg Festival, Philarmonia of Warsaw, Abbey of Royaumont, Stefaniensaal Graz, Festspielhaus St. Pölten, and at Early Music Festivals in Utrecht and Melk among others. The interpretation of Lied, especially the romantic and late romantic repertoire, is one of his major interests. In the Korngold memorial year of 2008, the Korngold Society and the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Society invited him to perform his songs throughout Europe. Günter Haumer has been recorded on several CDs and DVDs, and is often broadcasted on TV and Radio. On the occasion of the Mozart Year 2006 was seen as the baritone in the movie Wolfgang Who? on ARTE / ORF. Besides performing, Günter Haumer also teaches at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.

Der österreichische Bariton Günter Haumer studierte zunächst Klarinette an der Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien bei Prof. Meter Schmidl. Es folgten Studien in Gesang an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Wien und am Royal College of Music in London.
Gesangsunterricht bei Prof. Helena Lazarska und Wicus Slabbert, sowie Meisterkurse bei Walter Berry, Roger Vignoles, Graham Johnson, Michael Chance, Wolfgang Holzmair, David Lutz ergänzten seine Studien. Auf der Opernbühne ist der Bariton in der zeitgenössischen Szene besonders präsent, wo er zuletzt beim Carinthischen Sommer die Rolle des Jesus in Jonathan Harveys „Passion und Auferstehung“, sowie Amfortas in „Mea culpa“ von Christoph Schlingensief am Wiener Burgtheater sang. In Rollen wie Don Giovanni, Il Conte Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, Danilo in Die Lustige Witwe, Demetrius in A Midsummernight´s Dream, Ramiro in L´heure espagnole, Aeneas in Dido und Aeneas war er in Europa und Südamerika zu hören. Im Konzertbereich ist Günter Haumer sehr aktiv. Werke mit Orchester sang er unter der Leitung von Peter Schreier, Fabio Luisi, Sir David Willcocks, Gérard Lesne, Christian Järvi, Sylvain Cambreling und Erwin Ortner. Auftritte in Musikverein Wien, Cité de la musique Paris, Salzburger Festspiele, Warschauer Philharmonie, Abbaye Royaumont, Stefaniensaal Graz, Festspielhaus St. Pölten, Brahmsfest Mürzzuschlag, und bei Alte Musik Festivals wie die Internationalen Barocktage Stift Melk und das Utrecht Alte Musik Festival. Sein großes Interesse gilt der Liedinterpretation, besonders des romantisch und postromantischen Repertoires. Mit Unterstützung der Erich Wolfgang Korngold – Gesellschaft und der London Royal Philhamonic Orchestra Society war Günter Haumer im Gedenkjahr 2008 eingeladen in verschiedenen europäischen Städten sein Liedschaffen zu präsentieren. Zahlreiche CD und DVD-Aufnahmen, sowie Rundfunk- und Fernsehübertragungen. Anlässlich des Mozartjahres 2006 war der Bariton Teil des Films „Wolfgang Wer?“ auf ARTE und ORF. Günter Haumer unterrichtet Gesang an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien.

El barítono austriaco Günter Haumer inició sus estudios musicales con el clarinete en la Universidad de música y artes escénicas de Viena con el profesor Peter Schmidl. A continuación siguió el énfasis de canto en la misma institución y en el Royal College of Music de Londres. En la escena operística Haumer está muy presente en el repertorio contemporáneo. Algunos de sus últimos personajes fueron el de Jesús en la ópera Pasión y resurrección de Jonathan Harvey en el festival “Carinthischer Sommer”, así como el de Amfortas en Mea culpa de Christoph Schlingensief en el Wiener Burgtheater. En papeles como Don Giovanni, El Conde Almaviva en Las bodas de Figaro, Danilo en La viuda alegre, Demetrius en Sueño de una noche de verano, Ramiro en La hora española y Aeneas en Dido y Aeneas se ha destacado en escenarios europeos y sudamericanos. Günter Haumer es particularmente activo en el género de concierto. Ha trabajado bajo la batuta de Peter Schreier, Fabio Luisi, Sir David Willcocks, Gérard Lesne, Christian Järvi, Sylvain Cambreling y Erwin Ortner. Conciertos en el Musikverein de Viena, Cité de la musique París, Festival de Salzburgo, Filarmonía de Varsovia, Abadía de Royaumont, tefaniensaal Graz, Festspielhaus St. Pölten, Festival Brahms en Mürzzuschlag, y en festivales de música antigua como el de Utrecht y de Melk. Su mayor interés es la interpretación del Lied, especialmente del repertorio romántico y postromántico. Con la cooperación de la sociedad de Erich Wolfgang Korngold y de la London Royal Philhamonic Orchestra Society Günter Haumer fué invitado en el año conmemorativo 2008 a presentar la obra de este compositor en diferentes ciudades europeas. El barítono cuenta con numerosas grabaciones de CD y DVD, así como contínuas transmisiones radiales y televisivas. En el año Mozart 2006 apareció en la película Wolfgang quién? en coproducción de ARTE y la televisión austríaca ORF. Günter Haumer enseña canto en la Universidad de Música y artes escénicas de Viena.
